NSAC is an internationally respected teaching and research
institution providing quality education and creating knowledge
in the science and technology of agriculture, environment
and their related disciplines. NSAC is committed to research and strives
to be a leader in research and innovation which generates
new knowledge, enriches the quality of life, develops safe,
sustainable technologies and educates highly-qualified personnel.
We have
900 students, 88 M.Sc. students and over 76 full time faculty,
most of whom are active researchers.
NSAC is earning recognition as a leader of university research and is the most research-intensive institution in Atlantic Canada with 10 million dollars in research funding (Research Infosources, 2009).
In addition, NSAC has
several types of research
chairs, including some whose primary activity is conducting
research applied to the specific industry partner who helped
fund their position.
In addition to the modern and extensive laboratories, NSAC
has a number of research facilities unique to the Atlantic
region, including a 250-hectare
farm, extensive pasture, field and turfgrass facilities,
greenhouses,
an experimental orchard and a number of outlying research
facilities.
The NSAC
library houses the largest repository of agricultural
resource material in Atlantic Canada. The computer network
and an integrated, automated library system are accessible
from both local and remote sites.
