Budgeting
What does it mean to budget? Why should it be important to
you as a student? If you haven’t tried budgeting before,
it’s time to start! Budgeting helps you make the best
of your financial resources and reduce unnecessary expenses.
As a student, you will have many financial demands, among them
living expenses, tuition, utilities, entertainment, food, spending
money, travel, and more. You can make responsible financial
decisions by examining your own personal financial situation,
and creating a budget.
Successful budgeting during your study years can translate
into conscientious spending throughout your life. Budgeting
isn’t so much a matter of not spending money,
but rather being aware of how you spend your money.
Like anything else, being successful at budgeting requires practice.
The more you are aware of your spending, the more likely you
are to be a budgeting success story and ultimately financially
stable.
Generally, budgeting is a three-step process:
1. Calculate your income
2. Calculate your anticipated expenses
3. Determine what amount is left over
This site will provide you with information and tools to guide
you through the above three-step process and help you begin
to budgeting successfully!
