NSAC in Bloom – Campus
inspires local artists
Nova Scotia Agricultural College is the inspiration
behind a unique art show to be exhibited at the Marigold Cultural
Centre in Truro next month.
NSAC: An Artist’s Perspective will showcase the beautiful
landscape of the 105-year-old institution as captured by members
of the Truro Art Society during the university’s recent
Open House.
“
NSAC’s campus is just magnificent this time of year,” said
NSAC Co-President Dr. Bernie MacDonald. “Features such
as our Butterfly Meadow, our Rock Garden and our well-loved
Alumni Gardens all attest to the uniqueness of our university
and to the devotion, skill and expertise of our faculty, staff
and volunteers,” he added.
Several members of the Truro Art Society spent the day of Open
House setting to canvas their perspective of NSAC in bloom.
“
This year we had the unique opportunity as artists to try and
capture a bit of the annual NSAC Open House,” said Janice
Guinan, co-president of the Truro Art Society. “The beauty
of the grounds, the well-cared for livestock and a chance to
see some of the research facilities provided an eye opening
experience for everyone to gain a greater appreciation of the
excellence this institution has to offer,” added the
self-taught artist who derives her inspiration from an appreciation
of God’s creation. “Each artist has created works
reflective of their own personal experience resulting in a
diverse and inspiring collection which we hope will touch the
hearts of others as they view the NSAC: An Artist's Perspective."
NSAC: An Artists perspective will be on display during the
month of August in the Art Gallery of the Marigold Cultural
Centre with an official opening on the evening of August 3.
Artwork will also be available for purchase.
NSAC is a specialized university that cultivates learning and
research, focusing on improving and sustaining our environment
for the health and well-being of society.
