Technical Requirements and Information for Distance Education
Courses
To successfully view the courses, you must have the following,
or equivalent:
- Computer:
Pentium class PC (or higher) or a G3-based Mac (or higher)
with sound card
- Memory:
Sufficient RAM and hard-drive space
to adequately run communications and internet software
- Monitor:
Full 256-colour monitor or better;
set at minimum 800 x 600 (higher is optimal)
- Web Browser:
Newer versions of most browsers will suffice for use in WebCT.

hand corner)
- Internet Connection:
Full access to all Internet capabilities
through a service provider, and highspeed internet for distance
courses is strongly recommended. If you are using dialup,
minimum 28.8K baud rate may be sufficient
but 56K is ideal.
- Email:
Fully-functioning email address
- Experience:
- comfortable using a personal computer
(file management, word processing, printing);
- familiar with the use of an email program (sending and
receiving email, attaching files); and
- experience using web browsers to access
and browse the internet.
Minimum Systems Configuration Recommendation
WebCT is the software used to deliver our
web-based courses. For WebCT to function properly we suggest
the following configuration:

128 MB of RAM for Windows, 1 GB for Windows

256 MB for Mac OS X 10.4 |
| Video Hardware: |
Video card and display capable of 800x600
resolution |
| Internet Access: |
28.8 Kbps (Highspeed internet is strongly
preferred) |
