Eduscience21
Strengthening NSAC through Continuing Education

NSAC has taken a step forward in its efforts to serve the agri-food industry.

The Board of Directors of Eduscience21, a company newly formed by NSAC, approved a fund-raising strategy and business plan to help professionals remain at the cutting edge of their professions. The objective of the new enterprise is to promote customized, online professional development opportunities to working professionals in the agri-food industry in partnership with NSAC.

Because busy professionals cannot leave careers to take traditional, campus-delivered training, NSAC is reaching out to them. New internet-based technologies can reach working adults who need and want to keep abreast of the latest developments in their business. The goal of Eduscience21 is to equip working professionals with the knowledge needed to meet the challenges of globalization that confront the agri-food industry. With this new approach, the student may study at home, at work, or while traveling in a highly interactive, stimulating and supportive learning environment.

“We are really excited about this opportunity,” said NSAC President Philip Hicks. “NSAC fulfils its mandate and has more students, the competitive position of the agri-food industry in Atlantic Canada is strengthened, the working professional has new tools to advance his or her career goals and investors obtain a return on their investment.”

Half of the Board of directors of Eduscience21 was chosen from the agri-food community and half was chosen from NSAC. These community leaders will combine academic acumen with business savvy to serve the needs of today's agri-food professionals.
